Massage Works Bristol

fiveseedsmassage:

What do y'all do with clients who’ve had significant lymph node removal but are determined that they want deep work in the affected quadrant(s)? (Particularly when they insist that other therapists have been willing to do it before.)

If you are worried I would ask for written consent from their doctor but I can’t see what harm you would be doing if they are comfortable with it.

Blogging!

Hi guys,

As you can probably tell I am not much of a blogger but I am going to make the effort today!
Just to bring you up to date with where I am at, I have recently moved house to the outskirts of Bristol & we are all settling in now, its been a few months and I feel ready to get busy massaging in 2016!

Sunday evenings are growing evermore popular (what better way is there to start the week ahead than a massage?) and I have been given some lovely recommendations from you to your friends and family, so thank you for that!
I am looking forward to the year ahead full of massage, relaxation and happiness!

A warm welcome

What a lovely day working at Northgate Arinso in Aztec West, I spent my morning massaging lots of my lovely clients who I haven’t seen in a year! They warmed my heart, saying I had been missed and that they had received massage off of other massage therapists but it just wasn’t the same! Lots of smiley faces & hugs, now that’s what I call a warm welcome : ) Thank you guys! x

Work around the Sacroiliac area!

This week I saw an osteopath! (a client of mine) I have been suffering with chronic pain in my gluteus muscles (my bottom)  for a very long time, which I had been managing pretty well with deep tissue massage, but since the birth of my daughter this year I have had to sleep with a pillow between my legs (as the mums out there will remember from pregnancy) ever since and I realised I needed to address the problem with something different! I had a treatment on Monday, which was quite painful, but in a good way, and since then I have been pillow free! Apparently my pelvis was slightly out of line & tilted and so the osteopath used some massage & some cranial sacral techniques and so far so good! I have to make sure I stretch my muscles each day, and will check back in with her in a couple of weeks but it all looks good so far!

What I fancy doing

I was busy massaging a client the other day & I really felt like I would have liked to have used some of my hot stones, and then I thought about just using them within a holistic massage as a general thing, which I don’t normally do, but thought that it would be a nice touch (it would to me anyway!) What would you think to that?

Tanya on Massage!

I love my work, when I am massaging I am happy & relaxed! How many people can say that about the work they do? I don't want to show off but It seems to me that touch & massage is not only good for the person receiving the treatment but it is also good for therapist! That is certainly my experience and one of the reasons that I love what I do!

I decided to train as a therapist because I loved the environment that they worked in, it’s so relaxing, no phones ringing, no noise or stress, just a calm & quiet space to zone out in, no one expecting anything from you, nothing to do but lie down with your eyes closed and allow yourself to be lulled into a wonderful 'float-y-ness’.

If you want to de-stress I recommend massage completely, it is how I manage any stress, tension or anxiety. I truly believe in the magical power of touch and the relaxation that it brings!

What is a knot?

January 7, 2013
Knots form where parts of muscle fibres stay contracted, this restricts blood flow and means that oxygen, energy & nutrients have difficulty getting into the muscle and wastes like lactic acid and urea have trouble getting out, over time the knot builds up.

Muscle fibres can become contracted due to overwork, repetitive motion, injury, posture or emotional stress.

Hope you found this interesting x

How often should I have a massage?

January 2, 2013

My clients ask me this question a lot, and I usually say it depends on how you feel! You need to take notice of your body, listen to it, if you close your eyes and just take yourself on a little journey around your body, you will notice where it is aching, tight or just feeling tired, take notice of how you feel inside, do you need some attention? Are you feeling irritable or anxious?  I personally make sure I receive a massage at least once a month as this seems to be when my shoulders start...
